Anne Hathaway’s house made its Architectural Digest debut in 2019, and that same Southern California home is still the Les Misérables star’s primary residence. Hathaway shares it with her husband, jewelry designer Adam Shulman, and their two children—with a third on the way.
Hathaway has spent quite a bit of time away for work in the past year, starring in five 2026 films.
Shulman holds it down at home, Hathaway told People in April. He and Hathaway both know that it’s probably never going to happen like this again. The way Shulman stepped up, Hathaway means, in every possible way, he’s the most extraordinary person she’s ever met.

The Princess Diaries star also opened up about her cozy home routine on her rare days off: she gets the paper delivered every day, and she loves sitting down with it. She cuddles with their puppy—they just got a puppy.
Hathaway, along with her then boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, rented a $37,000-a-month five-bedroom duplex in Midtown Manhattan’s Olympic Tower in the mid-’00s. Built in 1976, the building was Manhattan’s first all-glass tower.
With views of Central Park, the Empire State Building, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, the dwelling featured walls of glass, a movie theater, and five en suite bedrooms. Hathaway and Follieri’s stay at the 7,750-square-foot aerie came to a dramatic end around 2008, when the couple broke up and Follieri, a real estate investor, was convicted of fraud and sent to prison.
Hathaway’s personal diaries were even seized by the FBI to help in their case against Follieri, who was released in 2012 and deported to Italy.

Hathaway and Shulman started dating shortly after the fiasco involving her ex-boyfriend and married in 2012. They picked up a $4.1 million apartment in Dumbo’s Clocktower Building in February 2013. Reportedly, they never moved into the 2,592-square-foot loft and Hathaway used the two-bedroom dwelling as one big dressing room.
The corner unit included a primary suite with numerous closets, a vanity nook, a bathroom with a soaking tub, a combination library and media room, and an open-plan great room with wraparound city views.
They made their way out west in 2014, which is reportedly when they picked up their current home in Ojai, California, for $3.6 million. Spanning 3,400 square feet, the Swiss chalet–style structure hosted four bedrooms and four bathrooms when Hathaway and Shulman bought it.
They also purchased an adjacent plot of land. The couple hired AD100 designer Pamela Shamshiri to renovate the dwelling, which was originally built in 1906 and rebuilt in 1917, pulling design references from Yves Saint Laurent, David Bowie, Wes Anderson, and even Rihanna’s 2015 Met Gala look.

Shamshiri appointed the chalet with a dreamy music room, complete with a disco ball, a piano, and plenty of space for cozy lounging. “This room has been a long-held fantasy of ours—a place where the people we love can gather and our musician friends can play. It’s the heart of the house,” Hathaway told Architectural Digest.
In November 2017 the Interstellar star added a home in Connecticut to her real estate portfolio. Hathaway and Shulman paid $2.8 million for the 1920s Colonial-style house, which had five bedrooms and six bathrooms across 4,500 square feet.
Located in Westport, the residence was situated on one acre with a romantic English garden, a barn, an attached guesthouse, and a saltwater swimming pool. Inside, it featured a formal dining room warmed by a stone fireplace and a primary suite with a dressing hall, a vintage-style bathroom, and private deck.
